A very warm welcome to Hole Park, our family home since 1911. We are the fourth generation to care for and cherish these beautiful gardens, both formal and wild, and are delighted to share them with you, your family and your friends – both two and four-legged. We hope they will bring you as much joy when you visit as they give us every day.

Our gardens are renowned for spectacular seasonal displays and we are open from 1st April. In Spring the famous bluebell walk is complemented by breathtaking Magnolias and an abundance of wild garlic. These give way to rich formal border displays in Summer, and then to a riot of woodland colour in Autumn. All year round it is framed by 200-acres of classic parkland, offering far-reaching views of the beautiful Wealden landscape.

To help us forget about the current cold snap, let’s celebrate the latest cheery sign of Spring at Hole Park: the appearance of swathes of Scilla across the gardens and woodland. These beautiful blue flowers are a special feature to look out for, along with the magnolias, hellebores and much more, if you are attending the @gorringesauctioneers event next Tuesday 17th March or the exclusive season ticket holder tour on Saturday 21st March. Alternatively, our official opening day of Wednesday 1st April is just weeks away now and we can’t wait to welcome our visitors back to enjoy the gardens.

Kick off your Gardening season with confidence and creativity!
On Friday 17th April, join head Gardener Quentin Stark for our hands-on propagation workshop – a morning filled with seed sowing, cuttings, expert tips and plenty of green-fingered joy!
Participants learn how to sow seeds successfully, take softwood and semi ripe cuttings from tender perennials and explore more advanced techniques, like leaf cuttings and twin scaling.
Whether you are a complete beginner or already green-fingered, everyone will leave inspired and ready to grow!
The day begins with a hot drink in the Coach House tea room and your workshop ticket includes entry to our stunning 16 acres of gardens and woodland until 6 pm. Bliss!

Spring has most definitely sprung here at Hole Park this week. The camellias are blooming and the magnolias are almost there too, including our magnificent magnolia Campbelli ‘Sudbury’ down in the woodland (last image). Planted in around 1972 it is some 20 metres tall and blooms from the top downwards so the main show is still to come! Be amongst the first to see its full glory and the latest Spring colour if you attend @gorringesauctioneers Valuation Event on Tuesday 17 March or when you join our exclusive members’ tour on Saturday 21st March. Happy first day of meteorological Spring and St David’s Day, so we’re celebrating with photos of both crocuses and daffodils which are a feature of the Spring gardens here.
It’s also now just a month until we reopen, but if you purchase a season ticket in the next few weeks you’ll have the opportunity of booking a place on an exclusive pre-opening guided tour taking place on Saturday 21st March.

Snowdrops have always provided creative inspiration for artists so it was a real pleasure to welcome local ceramic artist @joannaterryceramics to Hole Park yesterday to see and then capture the beauty of our snowdrop collections. With the help of Head Gardener @qjstark , Joanna collected examples and carefully pressed them into sheets of porcelain paper clay. Back at her studio, these were shaped into cylindrical tea light holders, freezing in time the charm, delicacy and beauty of the flowers. After firing, the finished porcelain tea lights become translucent, bringing the snowdrops to life in people’s homes. Today is National Snowdrop Day, celebrating the resilience and beauty of these bright heralds of Spring.
Appropriately, one of the collective nouns for snowdrops is a Hope. So, in these grey days, snowdrops have certainly been a very welcome sight for the gardening team, as they work to prepare Hole Park for our Spring opening. And the secret of their survival in the depths of winter? These delicate little plants contain a natural anti-freeze.
